K.T. Hammond’s Contempt Case Will Be Decided In Court By October.

The Trades and Industry Minister, Kobina Tahir Hammond (K.T. Hammond), is the subject of a contempt action, and the verdict has been set by the Accra High Court.

James Gyakye Quayson’s attorneys are asking the court to issue a contempt citation against Assin North MP Adamu Sakande after the latter said in a speech that Mr. Quayson might as well resign from Congress in light of his comparison of his situation to that of Adamu Sakande.

“At the court, there is a concept known as precedent. The same thing that occurred with Adamu Sakande also occurred here. He arrived to this House, and it was interchangeable NDC (National Democratic Congress) members who had expelled him from the legislature and sued him. He was detained; he later passed away and was buried. The situation is the same.

They are causing a lot of commotion over his inauguration. I asked Dominic Ayine, a former deputy attorney general, to inform the man that this has happened before in this House. In an interview with Oyerepa TV, K. T. Hammond said, “He ought to vacate this place before he would be arrested.

The court presided over by Justice Mary Maame Ekue Yanzuh has ordered the Adansi Asokwa MP, who was not present in court on Friday, July 28, to provide an explanation for his remarks by August 31.

By the same deadline, Gyakye Quayson’s attorneys must also submit written arguments.

The matter will be decided by the court on October 19, 2023.
