Kennedy Agyapong Says Strategists Don’t Take Economies To The IMF

Kennedy Agyapong, a candidate for the New Patriotic Party’s presidential nomination, criticized the Akufo-Addo administration for turning to the International Monetary (IMF) Fund for a bailout.

Agyapong said that Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia was to blame for these challenges in the economy addressing his presidential campaign stop at Kintampo in the Bono East Region.

“You describe yourself as a strategist, but the dollar was only worth 4 cedis when we took over the government. You call yourself a strategist even though $1 is worth Gh12 now, he remarked.

For the 17th time, Ghana has requested assistance from the IMF, and as the first installment of a $3 billion loan, it will receive $600 million
